COVID-19 has had us cut down on our spending. Haircuts, house cleaning, meal service, pedicures, lawn service, we no longer hire out many of those jobs. For those we used to hire, it’s a disaster. And while we all face challenges in life, some much greater than others, another part is our innate drive to help each other. Sometimes that’s the part that matters most.

That’s why we’re launching The Hire Cause.

TILT will match all funds raised up to $10,000 USD, so your donation goes twice as far.

Born and Raised Detroit Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which makes all donations to The Hire Cause tax-deductible where permissible by law.

It’s simple really. Just donate a portion of the savings you get from doing the jobs yourself to the service workers who need it. Your donation might buy food for a waitress’s kids. Or it might help a house cleaner pay rent. Wherever it goes, whatever you give, TILT will match your donation up to a total of $10,000. And all The Hire Cause funds will be distributed by Born and Raised Detroit Foundation, one of the city’s most venerable giving institutions.

If you can help, please do.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

1) Take on a project yourself that you would normally pay someone else to do: Haircuts, pedicures, blowouts, landscaping, bartending, car washing, cooking or meal prep, etc.

2) Donate the money you would have paid to the Hire Cause fund. For each donation made into the fund, TILT will match it up to a collective and maximum total of $10,000 in all. We will continue to seek matching partners to expand the impact.

3) Share your videos/photos with the hashtag #TheHireCause and challenge your friends to join in. Share your: Before and after haircuts, dinner for two, mixing a cocktail, kids washing the car.

In further partnership with frontline organizations, TILT will also be making donations to Born and Raised Detroit Foundation, Penn Medicine and Beaumont Foundation. However, every dollar and matching funds raised for “The hire cause” go directly to individuals.
